TLC FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. I received a speeding ticket in Missouri or Illinois. How much will my insurance rates increase with a speeding ticket on my driving record?
A. Over the course of three years, you will likely spend an extra $2,000-$3,000 on car insurance with even a simple speeding ticket on your record. A traffic lawyer could help keep your record clear and your insurance rates low. Contact us to see how we can help you with your case.
Q. Will I need to go to court to fight my traffic ticket?
A. In most simple speeding ticket cases, our attorneys can go to court in our client’s place. However, if there is a resolution that requires a driver to be placed on probation, the court will require the driver’s presence, with counsel.
Q. I got a ticket for running a red light. Can you help?
A. Yes. The process is the same for a red light ticket as it is for a speeding ticket. You are innocent until proven guilty. For the Prosecutor to prove your guilt, he or she will have to assemble the evidence and present it to the court at a trial. The time spent to prosecute a red light ticket is probably better spent on more serious crimes. That’s one reason a Prosecutor might want to make a plea offer: to utilize prosecutorial resources in a way that benefits the public the most.
Q. I was pulled over speeding in Missouri or Southern Illinois, but I live out of state. Can you still help me?
A. Yes. A traffic ticket in Missouri creates a record in Missouri, and the record of your conviction will be sent to your home state. This means that you will suffer the consequences as if you received the ticket in your home state. We help out-of-state drivers avoid the Missouri conviction, thus avoiding their own state’s consequences. Fortunately, we’re able to assist many of our clients entirely remotely, so there’s no need for an in-person office visit. Get in touch to see how we can help you via phone, text, or online.
Q. Which counties do you handle traffic tickets in?
A. We handle traffic tickets and traffic cases in every county in the State of Missouri, including Kansas City, as well as St. Clair County and Madison County in Illinois.
Q. How long will it take to get my traffic ticket handled?
A. It can take as little as 3 minutes on your end, but the courts themselves can take longer, particularly with recent delays due to COVID.
One of the fastest ways to reach out to us is via text or through our online form. The process looks like this:
One minute for you to text a picture of your traffic ticket to us at Traffic Law Center at (314) 842-5381, or send it to us via our online form.
One minute to pay TLC with your debit or credit. We then process your card, set up your file, and get to work.
In the end, it usually takes just one minute to review your case results via DocuSign or letter, pay the Court through TLC with a debit or credit card, and review your court receipt.
We’re also available at any one of our convenient locations and via phone.
Q. I missed my court date. Can your traffic attorneys still help me?
A. Yes, and don’t panic. People often panic and make the mistake of paying their traffic ticket just to get it over with, and it ends up on their driving record. Missing a court date can cause a warrant or failure to appear suspension on your driving record in addition to the original ticket.
Instead, contact us at TLC to see how our attorneys can help you with your traffic ticket. TLC attorneys have access to court information that’s not generally available to the public and can help you navigate your case. Our typical process looks like this: We “enter our appearance”, have warrants recalled, get a new court date, and work out a plea bargain to keep the offense off your record. We are well known in the courts because we work with their staff to get your case back on track. Believe it or not, it’s typically more work for them to issue the warrants and contact the Driver’s License Bureau when people miss Court.
